The course, titled <strong>&#8220;Democracy and Autocracy in the EU&#8217;s Eastern Neighborhood,&#8221;<\/strong> will take place between <strong>November 4 and December 8, 2024<\/strong> and will be taught in English.<\/p>\n<h3>What will you learn?<\/h3>\n<p>Over the course of five modules, learners will explore the key characteristics of <strong>democratic and autocratic systems<\/strong>, as well as the political and historical context of the<strong> six countries<\/strong> in the EU&#8217;s Eastern Neighborhood. Topics discussed include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Introduction to democracy and autocracy<\/li>\n<li>Historical context of these regimes<\/li>\n<li>Political institutions and systems<\/li>\n<li>The challenges of democracy<\/li>\n<li>Case studies on Ukraine, Belarus and Georgia<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Course structure<\/h3>\n<p>The course consists of <strong>78 academic hours<\/strong>, entirely <strong>online<\/strong>. Participants should have basic skills in using <strong>information and communication technologies<\/strong>. Upon completion of the course, each participant will receive a<strong> digital certificate and three ECTS<\/strong> (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) credits.<\/p>\n<h3>What will you get?<\/h3>\n<p>After successfully completing this course you will be able to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Recognize the essential features of democratic and autocratic systems.<\/li>\n<li>Analyze the historical factors that influenced the development of political systems in the Eastern Neighborhood.<\/li>\n<li>Compare political systems and institutions as well as electoral processes in the region.<\/li>\n<li>Evaluate the factors influencing democratization or autocratization.<\/li>\n<li>Apply acquired knowledge to analyze specific cases in the countries of the Eastern Neighborhood.<\/li>\n<li>Develop critical skills on the prospects for democracy in different political contexts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>How to apply?<\/h3>\n<p>Young people wishing to participate are invited to register by <strong>October 31, 2024<\/strong>.
