The process of questioning young people in the framework of the Municipal Survey on identifying the needs of young people in Chisinau municipality continues

The volunteers of the Youth Centers in Chisinau municipality have started an extensive process of consulting young people through a municipal survey aimed at identifying their main needs, concerns and expectations. The survey is being conducted both offline, through the presence of volunteers in public spaces in all sectors of the capital, and online, through a form accessible to all young people aged between 14 and 35.

At the Botanica Youth Center, young people learn how to build healthy relationships in the Personal Development Program

At the Botanica Youth Center, young people had the opportunity to participate in a new session of the Personal Development Program, a project dedicated to those who want to improve their communication and interpersonal skills. The theme of this session, “The Relationship Code: Deciphering the Secrets of Effective Communication!”, provided the participants with a set of essential techniques to communicate clearly and effectively in various social contexts.

During the workshop, young people learned how to prevent conflict, identify dysfunctional communication patterns and how to build healthy relationships based on trust, respect and empathy. Through interactive activities and facilitated discussions, they gained valuable knowledge that will be useful in both their personal and professional lives.

The Personal Development Program continues to be an important opportunity for young people, giving them the tools to develop in a balanced way and to build strong interpersonal relationships. Want to make people laugh? Join the Chisinau Stand-Up Club!

On April 1, humor was in the spotlight at the Chisinau Municipal Youth Center, where young people from the Stand-Up Club, coordinated by comedian Vlad Sliusarenco, tested their creativity and stage presence in front of the audience. The event was an opportunity for the participants to practice their stand-up skills, telling jokes and stories that drew laughter and applause.

The Stand-Up Club, an initiative dedicated to young comedy enthusiasts, aims to provide a learning and experimentation space for those who want to improve their storytelling techniques, joke structure and stage confidence.

How can you become part of the Stand-Up Club?

Young people who want to discover the secrets of humor and develop their comedy acting skills are invited to join the club.

Chisinau is finalist in the European Youth Capital 2028 competition

Chisinau has been selected as one of the five finalist cities competing for the title of European Youth Capital 2028, as announced by the European Youth Forum. Along with the Moldovan capital, Leeuwarden (the Netherlands), Paralimni (Cyprus), Pernik (Bulgaria) and Podgorica (Montenegro) were also in the running.

This nomination reflects the efforts of the local administration, youth organizations and municipal institutions to make Chisinau a more youth-friendly and accessible city.

Next steps in the competition

By June 17, 2025, finalist cities must submit detailed documentation, including a program of youth events and activities for 2028. On the basis of these submissions, an independent jury and panel of experts will provide recommendations to improve the applications.

The cities will then submit the final versions of their submissions by October 7, 2025, followed by the final interview and winner announcement ceremony in November.

What does the European Youth Capital title mean?

This title is awarded annually by the European Youth Forum to a city that demonstrates commitment to the development and support of young people through public policies, educational, cultural and social initiatives. The European Youth Capital city benefits from international visibility and becomes a hub for youth events across Europe.

What’s next for Chisinau?

The team at the Chisinau Municipal Youth Centre, together with youth organizations and under the aegis of the Chisinau City Hall, will work on a detailed plan of activities and policies for young people. This plan will form the basis of the city’s final candidacy and will contribute to increasing Chisinau’s chances of becoming European Youth Capital 2028.

Municipal Youth Forum 2025: Education, Career, Civic Engagement, and Solutions for the Future of Chișinău

On April 12, 2025, young people from the capital are invited to take part in the Municipal Youth Forum, an event dedicated to identifying the needs of youth and proposing concrete solutions for community development. The Forum is organized by the Chișinău Municipal Youth Center and the General Directorate for Education, Youth, and Sports, under the auspices of the Chișinău City Hall, and will take place at the Urban Business Center, starting at 10:00 AM.

What topics will be addressed?

Held under the theme “Chișinău’s Youth on the European Path: Opportunities, Challenges, and Active Involvement”, the Forum will include panel discussions and hands-on workshops focused on four key areas:

  • Education and European mobility – scholarship opportunities, Erasmus+ programs, and funding for youth
  • Employability and entrepreneurship – support for developing professional skills and integrating into the labor market
  • Civic participation and democracy – the role of young people in decision-making processes and promoting European values
  • Social challenges and local solutions – active youth involvement in the sustainable development of Chișinău

The event will bring together national and international experts, representatives of local authorities, and youth organizations, offering participants the opportunity to actively engage in discussions and contribute to the development of a final resolution with proposals for improving youth policies.

The Municipal Youth Survey – What do young people in Chișinău want?

Before the Forum, young people can take part in the Municipal Youth Survey aimed at identifying the needs of youth. The survey runs from March 14 to April 5, 2025, and is conducted by the Chișinău City Hall, the General Directorate for Education, Youth, and Sports, and the Chișinău Municipal Youth Center. Its goal is to shape public policies that reflect the real needs of young people.

Stand-Up Club for young people at the Chisinau Municipal Youth Center! Participation is free and the coordinator is Vlad Sliusarenco  

Young people in Chisinau who want to develop their sense of humor and public speaking skills now have the perfect opportunity. The Chisinau Municipal Youth Center is launching the Stand-Up Club, a space dedicated to those who want to learn the art of comedy with Vladislav Sliusarenco, an experienced comedian.

Meetings will take place every Tuesday from 16:00 at the center’s headquarters in 90 Mitropolit Varlaam Street. Participation is free of charge and registration is by filling in the online registration form.

Stand-up comedy is one of the most popular forms of entertainment, based on funny monologues and direct interaction with the audience. Unlike other forms of comedy, where there are set scripts, stand-up comedy is all about authenticity, spontaneity and the ability to improvise.

There are many benefits to joining a comedy club:

  • Improves public speaking – You will learn to control your emotions and capture the attention of an audience.
  • Develops creativity – You will understand the mechanics of humor and learn to create original jokes.
  • Build self-confidence – Stand-up helps you to express your ideas freely and manage audience reactions.

Buiucani Youth Center Buiucani is hiring a Youth Worker!

Buiucani Youth Center announces the launch of the competition for the position of Senior Volunteering and Youth Participation Specialist.

Requirements for the position:

  1. Know the particularities of psycho-social and physiological development for the different developmental stages of adolescents and young people;
  2. be familiar with the rights and needs of young people;
  3. possess techniques for observing young people in their living environment, in their everyday relationships and actions;
  4. know how to apply educational methods which encourage personal development, communication, mobility, self-control, life skills and the ability to integrate young people into society;
  5. planning, teamwork, cooperation and communication skills;
  6. adaptability and flexibility in the performance of duties;
  7. other requirements stipulated in the job description.

Conditions for participation:

  • Hold citizenship of the Republic of Moldova;
  • has university / or professional technical post-secondary / post-secondary non-tertiary studies, preferably in the field of social sciences;
  • has at least 1 year experience in youth work;
  • is under 35 years of age on the closing date for applications;
  • has knowledge of Romanian;
  • is medically fit (certified by a family doctor) for the performance of the duties;
  • has no criminal record (criminal record certificate);
  • has not been dismissed in the last 3 years pursuant to Article 86 (1) (l), (m) and (n) of the Labor Code (confirmed by sworn statement)

Duties and powers of the principal specialist:

  1. Drafts orders on the implementation of programs and activities for young people;
  2. organizes and implements youth programmes and activities in accordance with the approved plan;
  3. participates in capacity building courses and sessions in youth work;
  4. carries out tasks delegated by the Head of Section/Head of Youth Center in the sectors;
  5. develops the individual activity plan;
  6. submits activity reports.

Contest “Graduate of the Year 2025” – Opportunity for 12th grade students from Chisinau  

Students of the 12th grade in Chisinau have the chance to be recognized for their academic excellence and their involvement in extracurricular activities through the municipal contest “Graduate of the Year 2025”. The event is organized by the General Directorate of Education, Youth and Sport (DGETS) and aims to identify and reward this year’s most successful graduates.

According to the organizers, the competition aims to stimulate and support young people who have distinguished themselves through outstanding academic results, extracurricular activities and active involvement in society.

Participation categories

The competition is divided into eight categories and two winners will be chosen in each category:

  • Best humanities graduate
  • The best graduate in the real profile
  • Best graduate in artistic profile
  • Best graduate in information technologies
  • Best innovative graduate
  • Most active graduate promoting volunteering
  • Best graduate in sports profile
  • Most active graduate in the field of ecology

How students can apply

To enter the competition, students must submit an application file including:

  • CV of the candidate
  • Copy of identity card
  • the decision of the teaching board of the educational establishment
  • Transcript of marks with overall average after the first semester of the academic year 2024/2025
  • Diplomas and certificates of academic and extracurricular performance
  • Evidence of participation in competitions, Olympiads and competitions (photos, publications, online links)

Applications will be reviewed by DGETS and each participant can apply for only one nomination.

Applications must be submitted to DGETS, 99, Mitropolit Dosoftei St., office 14, between May 5-13.

Stages of the competition

  • March 12 – Publication of the rules
  • May 5-13 – Submission and registration of applications
  • May 14-19 – Evaluation of applications
  • May 30 – Award ceremony

Awards for excellence

The best graduate of the year will receive a prize of 10,000 lei and a diploma of merit. The winners of the other categories will be rewarded with 7,000 lei and a diploma.

Graduate of the Year 2025 is not just a competition, but also a recognition of excellence in education and community involvement. It is an opportunity for young people in Chisinau to highlight their achievements and inspire future generations.
