Participate in the Hackathon for Financial Education and Solutions for Young People at local level

The Hackathon is a competition of ideas, where teams of participants (3-5 young people in a team) will register with an idea that can contribute to local development. After registration, for three days, the participating teams, together with a mentor, will develop the proposed ideas, and as a result, 3 winning projects will be selected to be implemented in the municipality of Chisinau.

Hackathon stages:

  1. July 03-30, 2024– registration of participants by filling in the online form: https://forms.gle/6cwyTQLqGKRhaHnu7
  2. August 08-10, 2024– the Hackathon will take place in Vadul-lui-Vodă. All participants will participate for 3 days in an opening session of the event, training sessions in financial literacy and fundraising, identifying and solving local problems, creating an effective fundraising campaign, mentoring from an international expert in finalizing the proposed idea/solution.

The last day of the Hackathon will be the presentation of the initiatives, during which the judging team will provide scores for each team and finalize the Hackathon results.

III. September 01 – October 30, 2024 – deployment of the 3 selected initiatives with the support of the mentor.

The aim of the Hackathon is to give young people in the municipality the opportunity to acquire essential financial literacy skills and at the same time become active agents of change in the local community. Through the Hackathon training sessions, we aim to encourage young people to identify local problems and develop practical and sustainable solutions.

The ultimate goal of the project is to create conclusive action plans and fundraising campaigns that bring tangible benefits, thus strengthening young people’s commitment to sustainable development and well-being of mun. Chisinau.

The Hackathon Financial Education and Solutions for Local Youth aims to become a catalyst for positive change, encouraging local initiatives and strengthening the links between young people and their community.

The target group for the hackathon is made up of young people aged 16-18, residing in mun. Chisinau and interested in personal development, financial education and active involvement in their community. These young people are open to innovation, have an entrepreneurial spirit and are motivated to contribute to change and improve life in their city.

The project is financially supported under the Municipal Grant Program for Youth Organizations in mun. Chisinau, launched by the General Directorate of Education, Youth and Sport and the Chisinau Municipal Youth Center under the aegis of the Chisinau City Hall.

It’s a series of sessions where you have the chance to meet dedicated volunteers of the Chisinau Municipal Youth Center. You will learn about their passions, what motivates them to get involved and the projects they are working on.

Chisinau Summer School for European Youth Capital 2027: A retrospective look

On July 11-14, 2024, the Summer School “Chisinau for the European Youth Capital 2027” took place. The event brought together 100 young men and women from various youth organizations, student councils and student associations, with the main purpose of preparing and strengthening the youth community for Chisinau’s candidacy for the title of European Youth Capital 2027.

Organized by the Chisinau Municipal Youth Centre, and Chisinau City Hall, the event started with a flashmob dedicated to the promotion of Chisinau’s candidacy, followed by presentation sessions and discussions about the importance and impact of this title. Participants had the opportunity to take part in various team building activities, best practice exchange sessions and team building activities.

A highlight of the summer school was the presentation of the application pack and the active involvement of young people in focus groups to formulate innovative proposals and ideas. There were also financial literacy sessions and presentations of support programs for NGOs and student associations aimed at supporting young people’s initiatives and strengthening the local community.

Programul a fost îmbogățit cu activități recreative, inclusiv sesiuni de înot, networking și o seară culturală, culminând cu un concert care a marcat finalul evenimentului. În ultima zi, participanții au prezentat concluziile și propunerile lor pentru viitoarele proiecte din 2025-2026, primind diplome de participare în semn de recunoaștere a implicării lor active.

Școala de Vară „Chișinău pentru Capitala Europeană a Tineretului 2027” a fost un succes remarcabil, demonstrând încă o dată angajamentul și potențialul tinerilor din Chișinău de a contribui la dezvoltarea orașului lor și la câștigarea titlului de Capitală Europeană a Tineretului.

Chisinau Municipal Youth Center Chisinau at “Hello, Chisinau!” Festival: Opportunities for Youth

From July 19 – 21, 2024, the Chisinau Municipal Youth Center and its branches will participate in the “Hello, Chisinau!” Festival, providing young people with essential information about the Youth Centers’ services and the opportunities for involvement available. Young people are invited to visit the Youth Information Center, located on the pedestrian street “Eugen Doga”, to discover the many ways to develop themselves and contribute to the community.

Chisinau Municipal Youth Center’s Mobile Team in action: information and interaction with young people in the Valea Morilor Park

The Chisinau Municipal Youth Center’s Mobile Team visited the Valea Morilor Park to connect with young people and introduce them to a wide range of opportunities for personal development and active involvement in the community.
The goal of the mobile team is to familiarize young people with the services and programs offered by the Youth Centers, highlighting the benefits of non-formal education, volunteering and active recreation.

What could young people learn from the Mobile Team?
