The event promises an authentic experience of handwork in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Youth Centers in Chisinau bring information closer to you: the mobile team arrives every week in the Centru sector

The Youth Centers in Chisinau are intensifying their efforts to reach out to young people through a series of mobile activities regularly held in the Centru sector. Every Wednesday and Saturday, the mobile team is present with an exhibition table, providing essential information about the services and activities available within the Youth Centers.

In addition, every Thursday is dedicated to the information campaign on scooters, when volunteers, together with youth workers, travel through areas frequented by young people to promote opportunities for non-formal education, volunteering and active recreation. On Friday and Saturday, the team can also be found at the Youth Information Center, located on the pedestrian street “Eugen Doga”.

A recent example of these actions took place on April 26, 2025, when the mobile team informed young people directly within the perimeter of the Information Center. The activity aimed to familiarize participants with the services and programs of the centers, as well as to promote active involvement in the community. Young people received details about upcoming events and how they can access various projects dedicated to personal and professional development.

The campaign continues, and the mobile team awaits young people from the Centru sector every week to discover together new opportunities for involvement, learning and fun.

It is worth noting that mobile volunteer teams are presented in every sector of the capital!

Young people from Chisinau challenged to bring the elegance of the past to the present at the “Back in Time – Youth Edition” contest

The Chisinau Municipal Youth Center is launching a unique invitation for all fashion, history and creative expression enthusiasts: on April 26, 2025, at its headquarters on Mitropolit Varlaam 90, the “Back in Time – Youth Edition” retro costume contest will take place. The event promises a visual journey through the decades that marked world fashion, from the 1920s to the 1980s and beyond.

Young people between the ages of 14 and 35 are invited to participate for free, choosing to recreate, with originality, emblematic styles from the eras that inspired them. The fashion shows will start at 12:00, in a setting dedicated to creativity and good mood, and the outfits will be evaluated by a jury made up of design, art and communication specialists.

Young people from Chisinau invited to participate in a free personal and professional development program

A new project dedicated to young people in the capital opens its doors: “Youth for the Future: Development, Orientation, Success” offers free training sessions for those who want to build a solid future, guided by practical skills and useful knowledge.

If you are between 14 and 30 years old and live in Chisinau, you have the chance to be part of a program that will help you shape your professional path and invest in your own development.

What you will learn during the sessions:

  • How to write a CV that represents you
  • How to orient yourself in choosing a suitable career
  • How to effectively manage your time and personal resources
  • How to develop your entrepreneurial spirit and initiate your own project

Participation is free, and the program is open to 75 young people who will be selected after completing the application form.

Chisinau becomes the capital of informed youth: the Mobile Youth Center Campaign begins!

The Youth Centers Network in Chisinau launches the Youth Information Campaign “Mobile Youth Center”, a program dedicated to bring the services offered by the youth centers in the city closer to young people. The launch event takes place on Wednesday, April 23, at 4:00 PM, simultaneously in all five sectors of the capital.

The initiative aims to provide informational support to young people in Chisinau, regarding the activities, opportunities and services available within the youth centers.

Where will the “Mobile Youth Center” be present?

  • Centru Sector: Eugen Doga Pedestrian Street (Youth Information Center)
  • Buiucani Sector: “La Izvor” Park
  • Botanica Sector: “Valea Trandafirilor” Park
  • Rîșcani Sector: “Feciorilor patriei – memorie veșnică” Memorial Complex
  • Ciocana Sector: Intersection of str. Petru Zadnipru with Mircea cel Batran blvd.

Through this initiative, the young workers and volunteers of the network of centers will go into the community, with scooters and the Municipal Youth Center minibus, to directly reach the areas frequented by young people. The goal is to make information accessible, where young people are, whether in parks, neighborhoods or suburbs.

At a time when Chisinau aspires to the title of European Youth Capital, this program reaffirms the commitment of the Municipal Youth Center to supporting young people and encouraging their active participation in the community. Through the “Mobile Youth Center” campaign, the aim is to expand access to educational, social and civic resources for all young people in the municipality, regardless of the area in which they live.

The campaign will continue in the coming period, being one of the methods by which the network of youth centers strengthens its mission to be close to young people, where they need information, guidance and support.

How young people see Chisinau: Opportunities, challenges and aspirations in a changing city

A study on the needs and priorities of young people in Chisinau Municipality analyzed including their self-perception, problem area, personal development possibilities, health knowledge, labor market integration and involvement in decision-making.

The survey was carried out on a sample of 2050 young people aged 14-35 years, living in 5 sectors of the Chisinau Municipality as well as in suburbs.

The method of data collection was mixed, using both online and offline techniques to ensure a broad coverage and diversity of respondents. Thus, two main methods were used: CAWI (Computer-Assisted Web Interviewing), an online data collection method, and CAPI (Computer-Assisted Personal Interviewing), computer-assisted personal interviews, where the interviewer uses devices such as tablets or cell phones to record responses directly during the interview.

According to the results, 60.7% of the respondents are pupils or students, and another 39.3% are private or state employees, entrepreneurs or not employed.

Sources of information on youth services

The survey assesses sources of information for young people over a recent period. It gives an overview of the most used online platforms. Specifically, 23% of respondents rate Instagram as the main source of information. After that, follows TikTok – 17.8%, Telegram – 12%, Facebook – 11.7%, and another 35% include websites, radio, state institutions, newspapers, acquaintances and others.

Activities that should be organized by youth organizations or institutions

According to the collected data, 32.7% of the respondents mentioned vocational trainings, leisure activities and career guidance sessions as the most relevant activities that should be organized by youth institutions.

Another 27.8% foresee the organization of leadership courses, language courses, health education, internships and others.

Areas that need improvement to better support students

44.66% of young people say that access to scholarships, financial aid, study spaces, educational resources are areas, which would need improvement to better support students.

Another 40.95% indicate areas, such as extracurricular activities, transportation, infrastructure, mental health and support services.

Degree of involvement of young people in local decision-making

According to the results, 32.4% of young people report an increased interest in participating in elections, expressing a desire to directly influence the political and administrative directions of their community.

At the same time, 18.3% of respondents say that they are interested in participating in activities organized by youth centres and cultural institutions, which they perceive as places of expression and training.

Activities organized by the Local Public Administration in which young people have participated

The survey shows that, despite a moderate interest in the activities carried out by the authorities, a significant proportion of young people have already participated in at least one action initiated by the Local Public Administration.

More specifically, 28.3% of respondents said that they had participated in cultural events such as festivals, fairs or concerts. These activities are perceived as accessible and attractive, offering both entertainment and socializing opportunities.

At the same time, 4.7% of young people mention that they have been involved in environmental activities or community campaigns initiated by authorities. These initiatives, although less visible, respond to a real need for empowerment and active involvement in the life of the capital.

Voluntary activities in which young people have taken part in the last 12 months

According to the results, 11.9% of respondents have volunteered in a public institution, contributing to the smooth running of local activities and gaining experience in interacting with the administration.

At the same time, 10.2% of young people have been involved in local development projects, supporting civic, cultural or educational initiatives aimed at improving life in the community.

Also, 9.9% of the participants were active in charitable campaigns, either by collecting donations or supporting vulnerable people, demonstrating empathy and social responsibility.

Volunteer card

The survey examines the prevalence and young people’s perceptions of the volunteer card, a document designed to formally recognize civic involvement and voluntary activity. The results indicate limited use but considerable appreciation among those who hold it.

More specifically, only 15.7% of respondents say that they have a volunteer card, which reveals a need to promote this tool more intensively among young people involved in community activities.

At the same time, 27.4% of participants consider the volunteer card as “very useful”, emphasizing its role in validating non-formal experiences, facilitating access to educational and professional opportunities, as well as in strengthening personal portfolios.

Perception of young people on the difficulty to find a job in Chisinau

The survey explores the perception of young people in the capital on the difficulty to access a job, providing a clear picture of the reality they face on the labor market.

Only 5.1% of the respondents consider it “very easy” to find a job in the capital, which suggests a big gap between their expectations and the reality of the labor market.

17.1% of young people say that finding a job is “fairly easy”, which indicates a certain flexibility in the system. On the other hand, 37.8% of respondents consider the process “neither easy nor difficult”. On the other hand, 26.6% of young people find it “quite difficult” to find a job and 8.1% say it is “very difficult”.

Methods used by young people to find a job

The survey examined the methods by which young people in Chisinau search for a job, highlighting the various strategies used to access professional opportunities. According to the results, the most frequently used methods are related to social connections and direct interaction with employers.

71.6% of young people resort to friends, relatives and colleagues to find jobs, which emphasizes the importance of personal connections in the employment process.

Next, 61.4% of respondents use direct connections with hiring managers. These methods can include sending resumes directly or contacting employers.

In addition, 35.9% of young people choose to advertise job vacancies to draw attention to their availability to work.

And 27.1% of respondents register with labor offices, suggesting a moderate use of available public resources, but still an important option for a part of Chisinau’s youth.

Young people’s intentions to start a business in the next 2 years

The survey assessed young people’s intentions to become entrepreneurs in the next two years, providing a clear picture of the desire to start their own business and the reasons behind this decision.

24.3% of respondents said they were likely to start a business, suggesting a moderate interest in entrepreneurship.

At the same time, 12.4% are certain that they will start a business during this period, indicating a clear determination among a proportion of young people.

In terms of why young people want to become entrepreneurs, the results are significant.

35.6% of respondents want to become professionally independent, emphasizing the desire to control their own decisions.

At the same time, 32.6% of young people are motivated by the possibility of earning more money, reflecting an interest in improving financial stability.

Level of discrimination and inclusion (health status) The survey assessed young people’s perceptions of the level of discrimination and inclusion, particularly in the context of health status. The results provide a general picture of young people’s well-being, as well as their perception of discrimination.

24% consider their health status to be very good, and 47.3% rate it as quite good, suggesting a general state of well-being among respondents.

At the same time, 20.9% believe that their health is neither good nor bad, indicating a more neutral perception of this aspect.

Regarding discrimination, the majority of young people consider that this does not represent a significant problem.

69.9% of respondents state that there is no discrimination, which denotes a low degree of perception of discrimination in society.

Also, 10.3% assess discrimination at a low level, which suggests a minority that may experience mild forms of discrimination.

Based on the data obtained, the implementation of public policies in the field by young people follows, with the help of Local Public Authorities.


Conducted annually, the Municipal Youth Survey of Chisinau facilitates a deep understanding of the realities faced by young people in the capital, serving as a basis for constantly assessing the perspectives, needs and level of involvement of young people in community life.

The ideas proposed within the Municipal Forum will be outlined in the municipality’s activity plans in 2026.

MentorUp – the program that connects young people with professionals and development opportunities. Sign up by April 23

A new program aimed at young people in Chisinau municipality is launched under the name MentorUp – an initiative that aims to bring generations closer through mentoring, personal and professional development. The program is aimed at young people who want to learn from the experiences of others, shape a clear career path and connect with an active learning community.

MentorUp offers participants:

  • A dedicated mentor who will guide and support the learning process;
  • Individual and group sessions focused on participants’ goals and needs;
  • Themed workshops and networking events with professionals from various fields;
  • Access to a community of engaged and motivated young people.

Interested young people can apply for the program until 23 April 2025 by filling out the online application form available HERE.

After registration, selected participants will have the opportunity to interact directly with mentors in fields relevant to their aspirations.

The project is financially supported under the Municipal Grant Program for Youth Organizations in mun. Chisinau, launched by the General Directorate of Education, Youth and Sport and the Chisinau Municipal Youth Center, under the aegis of the Chisinau City Hall.

The MentorUp Programme is implemented by the Public Association “AVANTE” Youth Resource Centre, an organization dedicated to supporting young people in their learning, exploration and affirmation processes.

AVANTE representatives say that through this initiative they aim to create a safe and stimulating environment for young people, where they can benefit from support, resources and useful contacts to achieve their goals. The program complements local efforts to encourage the active participation of young people and provide them with relevant tools for adapting to the labor market and civic engagement.

Weekly career guidance sessions for young people at the Chisinau Municipal Youth Center

Young people in Chisinau who want to clarify their professional direction now have a practical and accessible tool at their disposal – the Career Guidance and Orientation Service, held weekly at the Chisinau Municipal Youth Center.

This initiative is part of the ongoing personal and professional development program dedicated to young people aged between 14 and 35. The main aim is to support them in the process of discovering their vocation and making informed career decisions.

What a guidance session entails:

  • Personalized individual counselling tailored to young people’s interests, needs and dilemmas;
  • Vocational testing, which provides a detailed profile of personal skills, interests and values;
  • Access to up-to-date information on the most in-demand professions in the Republic of Moldova and labour market trends;
  • Recommendations on vocational training and educational options available;
  • Support in making an informed decision, taking into account personal aspirations and socio-economic realities.

The sessions are organized on a weekly basis, according to individual schedules, and take place at the Chisinau Municipal Youth Centre, located at 90 Mitropolit Varlaam Street. Participants can choose to meet individually, with a friend or in a small group format.

Young people from Chisinau are invited to an interactive session on human rights and non-formal education

The Chisinau Municipal Youth Centre organizes an interactive information session dedicated to young people interested in human rights, civic participation and alternative learning methods. The event will take place on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, starting at 16:00, at the Chisinau Municipal Youth Center, located at 90 Mitropolit Varlaam Street.

Under the title “Human Rights through non-formal education”, the session aims to stimulate critical thinking and civic engagement of young people through participatory and experiential learning methods.

The activity will be facilitated by Gloria Cheptea, student at the Law Faculty of the State University of Moldova and active volunteer in the field of civic education. She will guide participants through an interactive program combining theoretical information with practical exercises and group discussions.

The proposed topics are:

  • What are human rights and how do they apply in everyday life
  • Ways in which young people can identify and defend these rights
  • Examples of civic engagement and educational activities with impact in the community

The session aims to raise awareness about fundamental rights and the role of non-formal education in promoting democratic values. Participation is free of charge and is aimed at young people aged between 14 and 35.

The event provides a safe and friendly environment for learning, dialog and reflection, where each participant can express their opinions and ideas in a free and respectful way.

The final of the Youth Basketball Championship concluded the 3rd edition of the Youth Sport Program with a spectacular competition

Chisinau’s young basketball enthusiasts enjoyed an exceptional sporting event during the final of the Youth Basketball Championship, held on April 13, 2025. The event, organized by the Ciocana Youth Center under the aegis of the “Youth Sport” Program – 3rd edition, brought together the best teams made up of young athletes eager to demonstrate their skills and team spirit.

The competition kicked off on April 4 with the qualifying matches over three days. Intense pace, physical exertion and a desire to prove themselves characterized this first phase, where each team fought for the chance to reach the knock-out stages. The semi-finals took place on April 12 and determined the two finalists, setting the stage for the decisive showdown.

The final on April 13 drew a large number of spectators and supporters, who contributed to an atmosphere full of energy and enthusiasm. In a match contested down to the last pass, the Ballin team prevailed to win the trophy.

  • Second place: Buiucani Reapers
  • Third place: And 1

The championship was more than a sporting competition – it was an exercise in personal and social development. The participants learned about responsibility, perseverance, cooperation and mutual respect, values constantly promoted through the activities of the Youth Sport Program, initiated and supported by the Chisinau Municipal Youth Center.

 

The Youth Sport Program aims to provide young people with safe, dynamic and accessible contexts to explore their potential in sport, thus contributing to a healthier, more confident and more involved generation.

 

The basketball championship has shown once again that sport can unite young people from different parts of the city in a competition marked by passion, fair play and team spirit.
