Last days to submit projects under the Municipal Grant Program for Youth Initiative Groups

There are only five days left until the deadline for submitting projects under the Municipal Grants Program for Youth Initiative Groups, aimed at young people in Chisinau aged between 14 and 35. Young people who have set up an initiative group can apply for funding of up to 20,000 lei to carry out youth activities in the municipality.

The deadline for submission is September 15, 2024, and projects must be in line with the program’s priorities for the current year. These priorities include: volunteering and youth services, inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities, creating economic opportunities for young people, promoting healthy lifestyles and personal development.

FLEX program opens recruitment for the 2025/2026 study year

Students from the Republic of Moldova have the opportunity to continue their studies in the United States through the FLEX (Future Leaders Exchange) Program, which has officially opened recruitment for the 2025/2026 academic year. The program offers full scholarships for students to spend an academic year in the US, study at an American high school and live with a host family.

What the FLEX program offers:

  • Free travel from Moldova to the US and back;
  • A pre-departure orientation that prepares students for the international experience;
  • Stay with an American host family for one academic year;
  • Admission to an American high school;
  • Medical insurance covering most medical conditions;
  • A $200 monthly scholarship;
  • An additional $300 allowance for school supplies.

Eligibility criteria:

  • You are a 9th, 10th or 11th grade student born between January 1, 2008 and July 15, 2010;
  • You are a citizen of the Republic of Moldova;
  • You have knowledge of English;
  • You are eligible for a J-1 visa;
  • Have not resided in the U.S. for three months or more in the past five years.

Students with disabilities, born between February 15, 2007 and July 15, 2010, are also eligible for the program, and the organizers will make special testing arrangements.

Selection process: Selection is done in several rounds, starting with a preliminary online application and essay questions, followed by English language tests, interviews and detailed applications. The first round runs from August to September 26, 2024, with final results announced in April-May 2025.

Finalists will attend an orientation in the summer of 2025 and depart for the U.S. in August, with a return to Moldova scheduled for May-June 2026.

To participate in the selection process, students are invited to register by September 26, 2024, by completing the online form available on the FLEX platform.

Call for Participation to the School of Policy, Leadership and Advocacy in Warsaw

Young people passionate about politics and activism from the Republic of Moldova are invited to participate in the School of Politics, Leadership and Advocacy, a project that will take place from November 18-22, 2024, in Warsaw, Poland. This program offers the opportunity to develop essential skills to reshape policy and engage in advocacy.

Participants will benefit from lectures and interactive discussions covering a wide range of topics including:

  • Leadership;
  • Advocacy campaigns;
  • Negotiations;
  • Teambuilding;
  • Policy analysis.

The program is built on participatory learning methods, including simulations, role plays, lectures and small group work. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to interact with experts in politics, democracy and elections, thus improving the interpersonal skills needed to succeed in politics and advocacy.

All activities will be conducted in English and participation is free of charge. The organizers will select a limited number of 25 people to attend the courses.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Nationality of the Republic of Moldova;
  • Between 18 and 35 years of age;
  • Applicant must be:
    • Member of Parliament or
    • Mer candidate in national, regional or local elections or;
    • Member of a political party or;
    • Youth activist or civil society leader with advocacy experience.

  1. Motivation letter;
  2. One-minute video clip describing your greatest achievement in politics or activism;
  3. Updated CV;
  4. Biography description.

Volunteer for Chisinau Marathon 2024!

Chisinau Marathon is one of the most popular running sports events. This year the marathon will take place on the weekend of September 28-29. Participants can get involved in the Fun Run (1.5 km), the five-kilometer race, the 10-kilometer race, the half-marathon (21 km) and the marathon (42 km). Thus, the organizers need the involvement of volunteers to guide, support and maintain order at the event.

The Chisinau Marathon 2024 team of volunteers invites all young people who show interest in sport, responsibility, involvement and teamwork skills to join them. Before the event, those involved will be briefed on the actions undertaken and will sign a liability document. During the marathon, volunteers will be divided into groups according to their responsibilities and tasks, such as:

  • registration and distribution of participants’ start packs;
  • being present at the start and finish line during the competitions;
  • organizing and supervising the keeping and changing rooms;
  • awarding medals to the winning participants;
  • regulating the direction of movement of runners during the competitions;
  • decorating the start, finish and Sport Expo areas;
  • maintaining an atmosphere of smiles and positive emotions along the running route.
