The Open Air Film Festival returns to Chisinau: kick-off on 1 June, in the Ciocana sector

The Chisinau Municipal Youth Centre enthusiastically announces the return of the Open Air Film Festival, a summer initiative dedicated to young people and families from the capital who want to enjoy summer evenings in a relaxing, cultural and accessible way.

This year’s edition kicks off on 1 June 2025 at 8:30pm in the Ciocana sector, at Amfiteatrul Ciocana. The organisers promise a friendly atmosphere, a safe space and a selection of films carefully chosen together with the audience. Screenings will continue throughout the summer in several locations across the city.

The festival aims to promote cultural consumption among young people, support the film industry and strengthen the local community through events that bring people together. Screenings will include artistic, documentary and animated films with themes relevant to young people and society.

Participants are invited to come with friends, family or even on their own – what counts is the desire to have an authentic summer experience under the stars. The evening starts with a good film and continues with smiles, conversation and a holiday atmosphere.

The festival is organized by the Chisinau Municipal Youth Centre, with the support of the General Directorate of Education, Youth and Sport, and is part of the series of events dedicated to young people in Chisinau in the summer of 2025.

Admission is free.

Technovation Girls Moldova – the voice of the young generation in technology returns to the stage

After a period of absence, Technovation Girls returns to the Republic of Moldova, bringing with it the energy, courage and creativity of a new wave of innovators. On May 31, the program’s final event – Moldova Regional Pitch – Technovation Girls 2025 – will take place at the Glia Impact Hub, where 20 teams of girls aged 15-18 will present their digital solutions developed during the four-month program.

Launched in February, Technovation Girls Moldova 2025 offered participants free access to hands-on workshops in programming, artificial intelligence and entrepreneurship, guided by local and international mentors. From more than 350 applicants, 20 teams made it to the final round and will now take to the stage to pitch their projects in front of a jury of technology, education and business experts.

Over the course of the program, participants have created mobile apps that address real problems in their communities – from mental health, personal safety and education accessibility to urban ecology and social inclusion. The pitching event will provide a showcase for these ideas that turn care into innovation and courage into code.

“Technovation Girls is not just about technology, it’s about what it means to find your voice, to be an innovator, to work in a team and turn your ideas into concrete solutions. We are proud that Glia Impact Hub has been the soil in which these ideas have taken root,” says Elena Bannaia, Project Manager, Glia Impact Hub.

Technovation Girls is an international educational program that encourages girls to become creators of solutions, not just consumers of technology. At each edition, participants learn to develop digital products, acquire entrepreneurial skills and present their ideas in front of a jury of professionals from relevant fields.

The regional finals promise an intense day of pitching, intergenerational dialog and inspiration. More than 100 participants – students, mentors, jury members, tech professionals and special guests – will fi be present to support and celebrate the voice of girls in tech.

The project is realized with the support of the Ukraine-Moldova American Enterprise Fund (UMAEF), a strategic partnerdedicated to the development of the technology ecosystem and digital education in the region.

Young people in Chisinau learn the art of public speaking through Municipal Personal Development Program

The Chisinau Municipal Youth Center held a new session of the Municipal Personal Development Program for young people aged 14 to 17, with the theme “Structure of a public speech”. The activity aimed to develop the communication skills of teenagers, providing them with a friendly environment to learn to express themselves clearly, coherently and confidently.

The participants were guided by trainer Ecaterina Marin, who explained how to build an effective speech without depending on a memorized text. The focus was on expressing their ideas in an authentic, logical and fluent way, using simple structures that give them freedom and confidence in front of their audience.

The session included practical exercises, interactive discussions and relevant examples designed to help young people develop self-confidence and argue their points convincingly. They were also encouraged to express their personal opinions, support their ideas and gain the courage to speak in front of others.

This activity is part of a larger program, implemented by the Chisinau Municipal Youth Center, which provides young people in the capital with opportunities for non-formal learning, personal development and preparation for active life in society.
