Chisinau Youth Centers attract more and more young people: over 3,700 visits in January

Young people in Chisinau show a growing interest in personal development activities, non-formal education and volunteering. In January, 3,730 young people aged between 14 and 35 took part in events organized in the capital’s Youth Centres, confirming the essential role of these institutions in supporting and training the new generation.

Chisinau Youth Centers are for all young people who want to develop communication, planning and leadership skills, discover new passions and actively contribute to the community. These centers not only provide educational and social opportunities, but are also a safe environment where young people can express their ideas, initiate projects and get support in their personal and professional development.

During the January activities, young people took part in personal development sessions, non-formal education courses and volunteering initiatives. In addition to these, the centres also provide socialization spaces where young people can interact with people who share common interests and learn from each other.

For the month of February, Chisinau Youth Centers are preparing the launch of interest clubs and an extensive program of personal development activities. These initiatives will give young people the opportunity to get involved in various fields, develop their skills and meet like-minded people.

Launch of the 2025 Municipal Grant Programs. Youth organizations, initiative groups and student councils can apply

In accordance with the Municipal Strategy for Development and Innovation of the Youth Sector 2023 – 2028, Priority no. 4 – “Supporting youth organizations and the associative sector”, the Chisinau City Hall, the General Directorate of Education, Youth and Sport and the Chisinau Municipal Youth Centre announce the opening of the application period for the Municipal Grant Programs 2025. These programs provide funding for youth organizations, initiative groups and student councils to implement projects aimed at youth development and promoting youth participation in the community.

Program steps – For all three programs, the selection process includes the following steps:

  1. Publication of the call for participation
  2. Verification of eligibility conditions
  3. Evaluation and selection of projects
  4. Communication of results
  5. Settlement of appeals
  6. Signing of collaboration agreements and start of project implementation

1. Municipal Grants Programme for Youth Organizations in Chisinau Municipality

The Programme is intended for youth organizations from the Chisinau municipality that wish to implement projects targeting the following priorities for the year 2025:

  • Volunteering and youth participation
  • Inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities
  • Promoting healthy lifestyles and active living skills
  • Personal development of young people
  • Mentoring and support for young people

The total budget of the programme is 2.5 million lei, and each organization can apply for funding of up to 250,000 lei for one project.

Deadlines and application procedure:

  • Application period: February 3 – February 22, 2025
  • Evaluation of applications: February 24 – 27, 2025
  • Publication of results: February 28, 2025
  • Implementation period: April 1 – November 30, 2025

To be eligible, applicant organizations must meet the following conditions:

  • Have the status of a non-commercial youth organization
  • Have no debts to the state or local budget
  • Have fulfilled contractual obligations under previous grants

Required documentation includes:

  • Grant application form (Annex 1)
  • Detailed project budget (Annex 2)
  • CV of the youth organization and project coordinator
  • Declaration of impartiality (Annex 3)
  • Statutes and registration certificate of the organization
  • Tax certificate concerning the absence of debts to the state budget
  • Other relevant documents

2. Municipal Grant Program for Initiative Groups in the Municipality of Chisinau

This program provides financial support to initiative groups in Chisinau municipality for projects focused on:

  • Youth volunteering and participation
  • Inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities
  • Promotion of healthy lifestyle and active living skills
  • Personal development of young people

The total budget of the program is 300.000 lei and initiative groups can apply for funding up to 20.000 lei per project.

Applications can be submitted from February 3, 2025, throughout the year at programgranturi@gmail.com. Projects are evaluated upon receipt of at least two applications and the program runs until the available funds are exhausted.

Eligibility criteria:

  • The group must consist of at least 3 members, aged between 14 and 35 years old
  • The group leader must be at least 18 years old
  • Group members must not be employees of public authorities, youth centers or youth work institutions

3. Municipal Grants Program for Student Councils in Chisinau Municipality

Intended for Student Councils in Chisinau municipality, this program supports initiatives related to:

  • Development of self-governance bodies
  • Participation and democracy
  • Promotion of a healthy lifestyle
  • Personal development and life skills for young people

The total budget of the program is 1 million lei and student councils can apply for up to 10,000 lei per project.

Deadlines and application procedure:

  • Submission period: February 3 – February 28, 2025
  • Evaluation of applications: March 3 – March 6, 2025
  • Publication of results: March 7, 2025
  • Implementation period: April 1 – November 30, 2025

Eligibility criteria:

  • The Student Council must be formally constituted and have minutes of constitution
  • The group leader must be at least 18 years old
  • If the president of the council is under 18, he/she must designate a legal representative
  • The group must have a minimum of 3 members

Retrospective of the 2024 edition

In 2024, the Municipal Grants Program for Youth Organizations supported 14 organizations, which implemented projects between May and November 2024, benefiting a total of 5,825 young people.

The Municipal Grants for Initiative Groups Program also supported 9 initiative groups, which implemented projects between September – December 2024, with a total of 9,341 beneficiaries.

Youth Centers in Chisinau are recruiting volunteers: Get involved in the community!  

The Youth Centers in Chisinau are launching a new recruitment stage for young people who want to get involved in volunteering activities. The program offers opportunities for personal development, the accumulation of practical experience and active participation in impactful events and projects.

Why become a volunteer? By getting involved in the activities of the Youth Center, young people have the opportunity to contribute to community change, develop organizational and leadership skills, meet new people and receive official recognition through a volunteer card and certificate.

Young people can choose to volunteer in two distinct services:

  1. Personal Development and Youth Leisure Animation Service

Within this service, volunteers will be involved in organizing and carrying out personal development and leisure activities, such as:

    • Interest Clubs
    • Municipal Personal Development Program
    • Leisure entertainment program “Weekend at the Center”
    • “OSTENDE” Theatre Festival
  1. Volunteering and Youth Information Service

This service offers young people the opportunity to get involved in information and promotion activities, such as:

    • Mobile Youth Center
    • Information Campaign
    • Festival de Film
    • Volunteering Week

Young people can work as volunteers in the following locations:

Chisinau Municipal Youth Center offers free career guidance sessions for young people  

Young people from Chisinau who want to discover their vocation and clarify their professional direction can benefit from the Career Guidance and Guidance Service offered by the Chisinau Municipal Youth Center. The program includes individual and group sessions, designed to support young people in making informed decisions about their professional future.

What does a career guidance session involve?

Participants will have access to:

  • Individual counselling on career guidance;
  • Vocational testing and obtaining a detailed skills profile;
  • Information on available training measures;
  • Data on the most in-demand jobs at local and national level;
  • Factors that influence the choice of a career: personal model, vocation and labor market trends.

Where and when do the sessions take place? The sessions take place at the Chisinau Municipal Youth

Chisinau launches new funding opportunities for youth and pupils’ initiatives! If you have a project idea, see how you can implement it and what financial help is offered to you  

The Chisinau Municipal Youth Center announces the launch of Grant Programs for young people and students, providing financial support for projects with impact in the community. The presentation event will take place on February 3, at 18:00, at the headquarters of the Municipal Youth Center, on 90 Mitropolit Varlaam Street.

The new funding opportunities are dedicated to:

  • Pupils’ Councils of Chisinau;
  • Youth initiative groups;
  • Youth non-governmental organisations.

Interested young people will find out details about the application process, the eligibility criteria and the ways in which they can turn their ideas into reality.

Through this program, the municipality aims to support initiatives that contribute to the development of the community, providing the necessary resources for their implementation. The launch of the grants comes as part of a broader commitment by Chisinau to actively support the civic and social involvement of young people.

The Robotics and 3D Club is launched in Chisinau: New opportunities for young people passionate about technology

On January 30, the Chisinau Municipal Youth Center hosted the launch of the Robotics and 3D Club, a project for young people interested in technology and innovation. The event brought together local public administration officials, representatives of the youth sector and partners in the technological field.

The event was attended by:

  • Ion Ceban, mayor of Chisinau municipality;
  • Angela Cutasevici, Deputy Mayor of Chisinau;
  • Andrei Pavaloi, Deputy Head of the General Directorate for Education, Youth and Sports;
  • Petru Grecu, director of the Chisinau Municipal Youth Center;
  • Representatives of Shape Robotics, project partners.

The Robotics and 3D Club aims to provide young people with an interactive learning space, where they can explore innovative areas, such as:

  • Programming robots and coordinating their movements;
  • VR experiences with the help of virtual reality glasses;
  • 3D modeling and printing, using 3D pens to create three-dimensional structures.

Starting with February, the club’s activities will take place in all Youth Centers in Chisinau, offering young people the opportunity to develop their digital and technical skills in a modern educational environment.

The Chisinau Municipal Youth Center announces the launch of the contest for the position of head of the volunteering and information section for young people!

Job Requirements:

  1. to know the particularities of psycho-social and physiological development for different stages of development of adolescents and young people;
  2. to know the rights of young people and their needs;
  3. to possess techniques for observing the young person in his or her living environment, in his or her daily relationships and actions;
  4. to know skills in applying educational methods that favor personal development, communication, mobility, self-control, life skills, social integration capacity of young people;
  5. planning, teamwork, cooperation and communication skills;
  6. adaptability and flexibility in the exercise of duties;
  7. other requirements stipulated in the job description.

Conditions of participation:

  • holds the citizenship of the Republic of Moldova;
  • has higher university studies;
  • has at least 1 year’s experience in working with young people;
  • on the date of expiry of the deadline for submitting applications, he/she has not reached the age of 35;
  • knows the Romanian language;
  • is medically fit (certificates from the family doctor) to exercise the function;
  • has no criminal record (criminal record certificate);
  • has not been dismissed in the last 3 years pursuant to art.86 para. (1) letters l), m) and n) of the Labor Code (confirmed by affidavit)

Duties and powers of the head of department:

  1. ensures and organizes the activity of the section;
  2. elaborates the Section’s Activity Plan and bears responsibility for its fulfillment
  3. approves the activity plans of the main specialists employed in the department;
  4. collaborates with the main specialists of the Youth Centres in the sectors on the qualitative implementation of programmes and activities for young people;
  5. elaborates the job description of the employees within the section;
  6. manages the department’s documentation;
  7. prepares reports on the activity of the section;

Chisinau intensifies its efforts for the title of European Youth Capital 2028  

The municipality of Chisinau is taking concrete steps in the candidacy process for the title of European Youth Capital 2028, launching and strengthening the Platform “Chisinau for European Youth Capital”. This initiative aims to create a structured framework for the active involvement of young people, youth organisations and relevant institutions in order to develop a complex and inclusive programme.

During the launch event, representatives of the youth sector discussed the strategic directions of the candidacy and the initiatives planned to support this approach. Key objectives of the platform include:

  • Organising events, workshops and public consultations, aimed at actively involving young people in the decision-making process;
  • Developing projects dedicated to young people in Chisinau, which meet their needs and contribute to increasing opportunities for personal and professional development;
  • Strengthen partnerships between non-governmental organisations, student councils and student self-governments to ensure effective and representative collaboration.

The candidacy process for the title of European Youth Capital 2028 represents a unique opportunity for the municipality of Chisinau to reaffirm its commitment to youth and to implement policies and initiatives that will

transform the city into a friendlier and more dynamic environment for the young generation.

The representatives of the platform urge all interested actors – young people, institutions, non-governmental organizations and local authorities – to join this process, actively contributing to the development of a more inclusive city and more adapted to the needs of the new generation.

Through involvement and collaboration, Chisinau aims to become a model of good practices at European level and to obtain the title of European Youth Capital 2028.

Young graduates of the Young Makers’ Club, invited to participate in an entrepreneurial training program

Graduates of the Young Makers’ Club (YMC) now have the chance to turn their innovative business ideas into reality through the Entrepreneurial Training Program. The project is aimed at young people aged between 18 and 25 who have completed the YMC courses and want to develop a business in the technological field.

Participants will benefit from:

  1. Intensive training: In just eight days, young people will learn to plan and develop a business plan, having at their disposal tools and knowledge applicable in the entrepreneurial field.
  2. Mentoring: Experts in the field will provide personalized support to guide participants through each stage of the development of their business idea.
  3. Financial grants: The best business plans will be awarded with amounts between 500 and 2,000 euros, providing the necessary resources for the implementation of the proposed projects.

The program is dedicated exclusively to the graduates of the Young Makers’ Club, thus offering continuity in the development of the skills acquired during the courses. It is essential for participants to have a business idea in the technology field that is feasible and innovative.

To participate, interested young people must fill in the registration form available online. The deadline for registration is January 29, and places are limited.

Through training, mentoring and financial support, participants will have the chance to turn a simple idea into a real project with long-term impact.
