Culinary experience at the Cooking Club: The young people explored the art of gastronomy with Coralia Babcenco  

Young people passionate about gastronomy gathered at the Cooking Club of the Chisinau Municipal Youth Center, where they had the opportunity to discover the secrets of culinary art together with Coralia Babcenco, national and international trainer in the field.

During this session, the participants prepared two delicious and creative recipes:

  • Strawberries in chocolate – an exquisite dessert that combines the intense flavors of chocolate with the freshness of fruit;
  • Salad “Heart” – a balanced recipe, ideal for a healthy lifestyle.

In addition to preparing these delicacies, participants learned about:

  • The importance of the balance of ingredients for a harmonious preparation;
  • Plating techniques, essential for the attractive presentation of the dishes;

Chisinau Municipal Youth Center launches Municipal Youth Personal Development Program  

Young people in Chisinau have the opportunity to develop their essential skills for a successful future by participating in the Municipal Youth Personal Development Program, organized by the Chisinau Municipal Youth Center. The program is free and intended for young people aged between 14 and 35, offering interactive sessions on current topics.

Who can participate?

The program is structured in two age categories:

  • Young people between 14 and 17 years old – the sessions will start on March 5, at 17:00, and will take place every Wednesday;
  • Young people between 18 and 35 years old – the sessions will start on March 1, at 16:00, and will take place every Saturday.

What will the program include?

Each group will participate in five interactive sessions, where young people will be able to choose their favorite theme. These will be established following a focus group organized on February 27.

All sessions will take place at the Chisinau Municipal Youth Center, located on 90 Mitropolit Varlaam Street.

“Love is played in two” – Romantic contest of the year for young people from Chisinau  

The Chisinau Municipal Youth Center invites lovers from the capital to participate in a unique event that promises to test the compatibility, trust and team spirit of each couple. The contest “Love is played in two” is dedicated to young people aged between 14 and 35 and will take place on February 22, 2025, starting at 17:00, at the Chisinau Municipal Youth Center, located on 90 Mitropolitul Varlaam Street.

The event will address romantic challenges and fun games, meant to test the connection between participants and bring moments of authentic fun. Couples will have the opportunity to demonstrate how well they know each other and how much they can collaborate to face various surprise tests.

The prizes are commensurate:

  • First place: 3000 lei
  • Second place: 2000 lei
  • Third place: 1000 lei

Truth Radar: Program for young people in the fight against disinformation  

Young people in the Republic of Moldova now have the opportunity to get actively involved in combating disinformation through the “Truth Radar: Youth Laboratory for Combating Disinformation” program. The initiative, financially supported by the European Union, aims to provide participants with essential skills in the field of media literacy, digital content production and civic activism.

Who can participate?

The program is aimed at young people aged 17 to 21 from all over Moldova, including from rural areas, who are interested in learning how to recognize and combat online disinformation, create relevant content, and develop their digital skills.

What does the program offer?

Participants will benefit from:

  • Specialized trainings in video production, editing and creation of captivating scenarios;
  • Developing digital skills and strategies for social media, useful in both personal and professional activity;
  • The opportunity to initiate their own information campaign, helping to combat disinformation in their community.

Structure of trainings

The program includes three modules carried out in a hybrid format, with offline sessions in Chisinau and practical activities in the community:

  • Module 1 (March 22-23, 2025) – Introduction to media manipulation techniques and critical analysis of information;
  • Module 2 (April 12-13, 2025) – Initiation in the use of technical equipment and software for creating media content;
  • Module 3 (17-18 May 2025) – Development and launch of information campaigns.

JEF Moldova recruits new members: Opportunity for pro-European young people    

JEF Moldova, the national branch of the Young European Federalists, expands its team and launches a recruitment call for young people aged between 16 and 35, interested in promoting European values and supporting the process of integration of the Republic of Moldova into the European Union. Open call for Young European Ambassadors: young people from Moldova and other Eastern Partnership countries can apply until February 24  

If you are between the ages of 16 and 26 and are originally from one of the six Eastern Partnership countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova or Ukraine), the European Union or the United Kingdom, you can apply now to join the Young European Ambassadors initiative, until the deadline of 24 February 2025.

The new call was launched by the “EU NEIGHBOURS to the East” programme and is aimed at dynamic and enthusiastic young people interested in EU affairs and their country’s partnership with the EU. You will need a good level of English, you should be keen to contribute to the development and prosperity of your community and country, and be prepared to dedicate enough time to participate in civic engagement activities.

Successful candidates will participate in online and dialogue-based activities, and will represent young people from their countries both domestically and abroad. They will exchange experiences, discuss issues of direct concern to young people, share best practices and work together for a better future for their countries. To apply for a Young European Ambassador position, candidates must complete the application form by 24 February 2025. Candidates are asked to submit a motivational video to support their candidacy.

After the end of the application period, selected candidates will first be invited for an interview. Those who successfully pass the interview will then be invited to special sessions and their profiles will be sent for further approval (to official stakeholders). The process, from the closing date of the call for applications to the presentation of the final results, takes about eight weeks.

The Young European Ambassadors Initiative (YEAs) is an apolitical, voluntary and vibrant communication network that connects and builds bridges of friendship between young people from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and the EU Member States and the United Kingdom. The aim of the network is to raise awareness of the EU’s cooperation with the Eastern partner countries, to present the concrete results of this cooperation, to contribute to political dialogue on various topics, to help increase civic activism and to work together for a better future.

The YEAs initiative was created by the European Union in 2016 and has so far involved more than 2,400 young people. Currently, there are more than 500 active YEAs, representing more than 30 different nationalities.

U.S. Peace Corps in Moldova: Contest to Select Organizations to Collaborate with Volunteers from the United States of America  

The U.S. Peace Corps in Moldova announces that a new group of U.S. citizens will arrive in Moldova to volunteer with local organizations. The volunteers will represent the Community and Organizational Development Program and will begin their service in August 2025. For two years, they will live in Moldovan communities and work with local organizations and institutions.

Community and Organizational Development Program volunteers can provide support to host organizations in the following areas:

  • Increasing the Organization’s Capacities: improving organizational management, streamlining organizational processes, developing capacities for project planning and implementation, improving information systems and promotion techniques, improving volunteer management practices.
  • Promoting collaboration between community organisations: mapping the community ecosystem, creating information sharing communities, organising inter-organisational and/or inter-community knowledge-sharing events, including disadvantaged groups in community activities.
  • Enhancing civic activism and developing the skills of community members: leadership skills for youth and adults, civic engagement, improving the use of IT resources, clubs and camps for different community groups.

If you are a Community, Registered Association, Local Action Group or Public Institution oriented towards community development (library, community center, youth resource center, museum, etc.), you have been working in Moldova for at least one year and you are interested in a productive cultural exchange that will strengthen the capacities of your organization, we invite you to apply to host an American Volunteer.

Organizations from the municipalities are especially encouraged to apply for this opportunity. The program aims to promote and enhance local capacities and seeks host organizations outside Chisinau.

An important condition is the existence of a person within the organization available to work with the Volunteer on a daily basis as a Basic Partner. Applicant organizations will also be responsible for identifying the host family for the Volunteer.

Workshop on soil tillage in the context of climate change, organized in Chisinau  

The “Katalyst” Public Association organizes on February 17, 2025 a workshop dedicated to soil processing in the context of climate change. The event will take place between 10:00 and 16:00 in Chisinau, on 25 Armenească Street, and is addressed to specialists and practitioners in the agri-food field.

The workshop will be held by Robert Vysoký, a Slovak expert in the processing of animal by-products and the production of organic fertilizers. Since 1999, he has been working at the Slovak company Rokosan Ltd., where he develops amino acid fertilizers for intensive and organic farming. He also has extensive experience in renewable energy production and participation in agri-food and sustainability projects.

Workshop objectives

The event is organized within the project “Green vector for the agri-food sector in Moldova”, implemented by the Public Association “Katalyst” in partnership with the Slovak Center for Communication and Development (SCCD), with the support of SlovakAid.

Participants will have the opportunity to explore:

  • The role of amino acids in soil regeneration
  • Modern and sustainable soil tillage methods
  • Case studies and examples of good practice from Slovakia and other European countries
  • Opportunities for collaboration and exchange of experience with specialists in the field

The workshop will be held in Russian, and the number of places is limited. Those interested can register by filling out the form available online until February 16, 2025, at 12:00.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to promote green solutions for the agri-food sector in the Republic of Moldova, supported by SlovakAid and implemented in collaboration with several organizations and companies in the field.

“Tulip Business Incubator 2.0” – training and funding opportunity for young entrepreneurs  

The Independent Analytical Center “Expert-Grup”, with the support of the Embassy of the Netherlands in Chisinau and in partnership with the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova (ASEM), launches the “Tulip Business Incubator 2.0” program, aimed at young entrepreneurs from the Republic of Moldova.

The program is open to people up to 35 years of age who want to start a business or develop an existing one. Participants will benefit from training, mentoring and access to grants.

Stages of the program

The program is carried out in two phases. In the first stage, 15 young people will be selected to participate in practical training and mentoring sessions in the following areas:

  • developing a business plan;
  • accessing preferential funding offered by the state and donors;
  • obtaining a bank loan on favorable terms;
  • marketing strategies;

financial management.

In the second phase, a business ideas competition will be organized, following which five of the participants will receive non-reimbursable grants worth 5000 euros each. The winners will also benefit from mentoring to attract additional funding, business consulting and networking opportunities with other entrepreneurs.

Eligibility criteria and how to apply

To be eligible, candidates must be up to 35 years old and be entrepreneurs or future entrepreneurs with a feasible business idea. They must also demonstrate motivation for developing a business.

The application file must contain the following documents:

  • personal CV;
  • A description of the company, if it is already registered;
  • A one-two page motivation letter, in which the business idea and development plans are presented.
